This is my first knit baby sweater. I’ve done plenty of crocheted ones for charity, but with our first grandbaby on the way, I always knew this would be the push I needed to get past my fear. As I am my own worst critic, I know it’s boxy and not perfect but I feel I need to post it anyway just because it’s my first. The upside is……………this was fun…this was easy. This one has been donated to a charity.
The green yarn is just a ball of something from my stash and the white is Bernat Softee Baby.

Somehow I forgot to post this picture when I finished this project. This was the purse I knitted for Danielle for their wedding. She loved it. The yarn is Sinfonia mercerized cotton and the pattern is from Knitting the Easy Way by Terry Kimbrough. I have the book with the blue cover but mostly I only see the book with the red cover – I’m unsure if both books have this pattern. There are two Beaded Wedding Purses in the book. Mine is adapted from the “traditional version”. It was a fun knit.
Inside of the purse, Mark and I put a picture of Corey as a baby. Mark wrote a sweet little poem. I’ll have to attach that to this post later.

These three pair took forever to make. The red, white and blue pair – oh did I dislike that yarn. Until I told myself ok, they’ll be my 4th of July patriotic socks, I just dreaded working on them. After that, it was smooth sailing. The middle pair are for Mark . They were ok to work on except the solid color got a little boring but that’s because I love working with the self-patterning so much. The other pair – oh my – they were my biggest sock disappointment to date. They are Paton’s Kroy. It worked up beautifully. The pattern is the fluted banister pattern that I’ve always wanted to try and is actually brainless knitting and they turned out beautiful – until I washed and blocked them. They lost some of their brilliant color and felted just a bit. We’ll see how they wear but again, disappointed.
Helpful hint – don’t walk away from a photo shoot with cats in the house who adore and covet wool.

Happy Mother’s Day to Mom! I made her these socks and we bought her a wireless mouse and keyboard. She was pretty happy. I was not fond of this sock yarn – the color looked a little dull to me but Mom loves them and that’s all that matters. Mom – you are loved.

Happy 21st Birthday to Danielle! We had a sweet little party for Danielle. We had brownie sundaes and I knitted a scarf and fingerless gloves for her with yarn she picked out from my stash. Clearly, she loved them.

Delicious! But what is it??? This is a ball of all of my scrap sock yarn. I perused lots of books and websites trying to decide what to make with my scraps that I have collected so far (an overflowing basket, which was screaming “DO SOMETHING NOW!!”). I decided to make a blanket for Mark and I. I am double-stranding and making garter stitch squares using a size 8 needle. As for the yarn, it is one strand of the scrap yarn and one strand of Regia Stretch 1, which is sold as blanc or white but is really off-white. Below is the first square.

Ahhhhhh – more Regia – this dose of enabling is brought to you by Joan. We all need a Regia enabler in our life.

**Regia Stretch Color 117 with Regia black for heel and toe contrast**
These socks just called out for contrast so I did the heels and toes in black. I LOVE how they turned out. I made them to wear for “Christmas Eve” at my parents’ house, which is actually being held tonight, on New Year’s Eve, since Mom was in the hospital on Christmas Eve (in total, she was in the hospital December 23, 24 and 25). So, I hurried and finished them to wear them for “Christmas Eve”, washed them and blocked them last night so they would be ready for the party tonight.

These socks were made mostly while Mark was in surgery, during his stay in the hospital and in the days up until today when I finished them. One pair is for Mark and the other pair is for me. Mark is doing well – he has pain only when he moves (same old same old but it is getting better). He was tempted today to have me take him for a ride but the weather outside is frightful and the fire is so delightful (oops – we don’t have a fireplace) – but we will wait for the weather to break a little, which is supposed to happen on Christmas Day.
Here are the ingredients:

Hmmmmmmmmm – wonder what could be in those little boxes? I guess the title of the post gives it away. I made the little mittens gracing each box using the same wool as the socks – so now each recipient will have matching socks and mittens (yes, I know that’s corny since they can’t actually wear the mittens – so sorry). When I went to get the camera to take a picture, Carrie decided to try to steal the mittens off of the boxes, and somehow this beautiful picture was the first picture I took – I think it’s a keeper with her looking so innocent – so I took no more (although I was tempted because one of the boxes on the top level is crooked but who can resist a beautiful Carrie pic).
These are socks I worked on all year – between other projects – for Christmas gifts for my family. I took the picture outside in the snow – today it is 4 degrees with a wind chill of -27. Thankfully, I didn’t have to stray far – I just stepped out the door and took them on the back deck.

In the order they appear, here’s who they’re for and what they’re made with:
**Mark – Regia Strato Color 5748
Keith – Regia Crazy Color 114
Justin – Regia Strato Color 5747
Corey – Regia Schatten Color 5163
Danielle – Regia Jacquard Color 5243**
Do you sense a pattern with the socks I make? I love Regia!! Not all socks I make are Regia, but a majority are.
